WAYLAND, Mich. - Kyle Brown stole the ball and drove the other way for an easy dunk.

It was the 1,000th point in the career of the Forest Hills Northern senior guard.

Brown scored 17 points as FH Northern beat Wayland 56-50 on Friday, Jan. 2.

“It was perfect timing,” Brown said. “I knew I was one point away. He crossed over and I stole it. Then and I dunked it as hard as I could. It was pretty cool. It’s special. I’m very grateful.”

Brown, a 6-foot-4 guard, is averaging 22 points per game this season. He’s gotten a lot more bouncy lately, too.

“My first in-game dunk was this just this past AAU season with Team Hustle,” Brown said. “I’m a lot more athletic now that I was even this summer.”

Brown - the son of Frank and Jennifer Brown - said he has college offers from Calvin University and Olivet University.

“I’m getting a lot more interest now, which is cool,” he said.

Ethan Erickson holds the Forest Hills Northern record with 1,557 career points. He reached 1,000 in 2021.
