GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Kellen Paul knows exactly what his school record for 3-pointers in a game is.

And he’s aiming to break it.

The Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central High School freshman drained seven 3-pointers and had a career-high 31 points in a 76-55 win over Allendale on Saturday at the Cornerstone University Holiday Tournament.

The 5-foot-11, 140 guard had one 3-pointer in the first half and then got hot with six in the second half.

“I didn’t shoot very well in the first half,” Paul said. “So I’m happy with how I came back and found my shot later in the game.”

It helped his team rally from a two-point game entering the fourth to outscoring Allendale 27-8 in the quarter.

“It was a good team win,” Paul said. “We had a big comeback in the fourth quarter.”

Paul had 31 points, senior Matt Sexton 18 and freshman Miles Pell 10 for the Rangers (6-1). For Allendale, Kaleb Gould had 19 points and Cole Bundy 12.

The Forest Hills Central record for 3-pointers in a game is 10 by Tyler George.

The most threes he’s had at any level was with his Grand Rapids Storm travel team.

“Last year on Storm, I had eight threes in a game,” Paul said.

Does Paul think he can beat it?

“I think I can, yeah,” he said.

The most he’s had in a game this season is six. He’s averaging 18.4 points per game and has 31 total 3-pointers so far.
