GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Carl Thompson has been busy.
The Grand Rapids Christian High School senior picked up two college basketball offers this week.
Thompson, a 6-foot-5 guard, got an offer the University of Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, his first Division I offer. Then he got an offer from Wayne State University on Thursday. He held an offer from Grand Valley State going into June.
“It’s truly a blessing,” Thompson said. “And something that motivates me to go further and continue to grow.
One of Thompson’s former high school teammates, Nate Johnson, plays basketball for the Titans. He will be a sophomore in the fall.
“This week has been super fun for me,” Thompson said of team camps. “Just being able to play with my team and grow with them is always great. We got to play some good teams that we will see in the playoffs and also got to play in front of a lot of coaches, so its been fun so far.”
During the season, Thompson averaged 20 points and five rebounds per game and was named to the MLive Dream Team.
Grand Rapids Christian played at the BCAM team camp at Grand Valley last weekend at Western Michigan University on Tuesday.
Thompson’s teammate Connor Johnson, a dynamic 6-foot-7 forward, got offers from Wayne State University and Northern Michigan University this month as well. He also has offers from Bethel, St. Francis and Ohio Dominican.
